February 2020 Transits

Welcome to February!

As we move away from the exact Saturn Pluto conjunction we all feel as though we can take a sigh of relief. It's finally over, we survived, the worst of it has passed and we didn't even get drafted into WWIII, right? Well, not really, while Pluto and Saturn are moving away from each other, they are still conjunct and this month is really going to bring in some other factors that will stir the pot.

Let's break it down, shall we?

February 3

Mercury -> Pisces

The first major thing to happen this month is Mercury moving into Pisces. I'd love to be excited about the fact that we have one less planet in a sign ruled by Saturn, but I'm not. Mercury is in both their detriment and fall in Pisces, AKA they are in a really rough place (Mercury uses they/them pronouns, sorry, I don't make the rules). Mercury rules over communication and logic. Pisces, on the other hand, is all about the things we can't see. It communicates without words and works outside the physical plane. Mercury in Pisces is trying to telecommunicate but humans can't really do that, so instead, we are just losing a lot of thought trains and swimming in a swamp of misunderstandings.

February 7

Venus -> Aries

The following day we also get Venus moving into her Detriment! Venus is all about love and Aries is all about a good fight, so what do we get when we mix the two? World War III! Just KIDDING (kinda), we just get an overall desire to get into a good argument with someone and with Mercury doing its confusing communication bullshit, it probably won't be too hard to do so. That all said, I actually don't mind this shift. Venus is still Venus, even if she recently got into sword collecting, and being in a fire sign adds some warmth to this otherwise damp and cold chart. Also, this means that she's no longer in a square with Mars and while she did move into a sign that Mars rules, it's better that Venus is carrying the swords, instead of Mars trying to stab her with them, especially since Venus is really going to need those swords later in the month.

February 9

Full Moon -> Leo

The moon is here. She's happy, she's making an appearance, no one invited her to their gloom fest, but she doesn't give a fuck. There isn't much to say about this placement other than the fact that it is creating a sign based trine with Venus and whenever the Moon and Venus are getting along that's typically a good thing. Let this day be the one shining glimmer of hope you have for this month cause shit is about to get really dark from here. This is a real solid day to make up with your friends/significant others if you managed to get into a fight with them earlier over something stupid (thanks Mercury and Venus), cause your emotions and compassion are holding hands. Plus, if you don't do it now, you probably won't do it with much success later cause we are about to go into the next shit fuck mess of this month.

February 16

Mars -> Capricorn

Now, now, I know what you astro nerds are thinking. Mars is exalted in Capricorn, this is great! We get the fire and passion of Mars with the purpose and intent of Capricorn, as opposed to a flame thrower being shot in random directions, which is what Mars has been doing this whole time he had been in Sagittarius. But, your optimism is directed poorly, my friends. I think you forget which planets have been lingering in the darkness of Capricorn this whole time. We have Saturn, Pluto, and Jupiter in Capricorn and now we have just added Mars to the mix. This is gonna add some action and movement to the situation and this isn't exactly a situation where you want a lot of movement. You may feel very motivated during this time to start a bunch of projects, but I think it's safe to say that if you do start something, it will take a lot longer than you'd expect to get done due to a bunch of challenges that all the other planets will bring. Pluto brings destruction where ever it goes and Saturn, especially when in Capricorn, likes to teach you lessons the hard way. Not to mention we've got Mercury about to go into Retrograde tomorrow and we all know what that does to productivity. Speaking of which, let's get into that.

February 17

Mercury -> Retrograde

Our friend Mercury is drowning in a swamp right now. They are not doing well and it's going to be very evident. If Mercury is the messenger, they are going to be doing the worst possible job of getting the message across. Now, not only is it in a sign that makes communication confusing and difficult, but it's also retrograde, which just takes that difficulty to the next level (and I forgot to mention this before, but it's also now in the same sign as Neptune, which is a planet makes everything foggy as well. Mercury might as well be trying to deliver the mail deaf and blind at this point). This is a time where you are really going to want to take into consideration that if things can go wrong, they will. Not in a catastrophe kind of way, just in a, "omg this is so annoying," kind of way. If you are going to something important, leave your house way earlier than you normally would. Double-check to see if you are texting the right person before you actually send a text. Expect not a single thing to be running on time, so don't count on that train being there when it's supposed to. Those kinds of typical mercury retrograde things are really going to be hit during this cycle and if you don't plan for them, it can make this period of time really annoying. But if you're prepared for it, it won't be as aggravating as it has to potential to be.

February 19

Sun -> Pisces

The sun is about to join Mercury and Neptune in the sign of Pisces, but I'd like to say this is a good thing. I know, me being positive, wow. But seriously, remember how I just said Mercury is moving through a swamp deaf and blind? Well, now they can see, at least. The sun is going to brighten up and clear up some of the fog, which should make things a little bit easier. Now instead of every little thing going wrong out of the blue, you are going to be able to have a little more clarity to what's going on. I mean, it will still go wrong, but at least you will have some sort of heads up about it. Tune into your intuition during this time. If you feel like something might happen, it probably will (within reason of course), so just keep that in mind.

February 23 - March 3

Venus square everything in Capricorn (except Mars)

I think you all forgot about our girl Venus, but she is about to go through it. Since she moved into the sign of Aries she now has to deal with squaring, or being in conflict, with all of the planets that live in Capricorn.

The first square is with Jupiter on the 23rd. This is the less dramatic of the squares. Jupiter and Venus are both benefic (positive) planets. They get along well typically, so even though they are squaring it's more of friendly disagreement. I can see the tension being Venus's current argumentativeness getting on already way too stressed out Jupiter's nerves. Just be mindful of what kinds of conflicts you are getting into with who. I know you may see it as a "friendly debate", but since everyone is "friendly debating" everyone, it's going to become overwhelming at some point.

The next square is with Pluto on the 28th, followed by the square with Saturn on the 3rd. I'm not going to go too much into the Saturn square since that is in March, but I just wanted to mention it because it's relevant to the stress Venus is going to go through. Pluto is just scary. It's unpredictable, dark, and potentially deathly. While, yes, it brings with it the necessary changes needed in your life, it doesn't do so in a very pleasant way. Saturn being so close by is adding the sensation of being trapped there. It's like being held captive in a dungeon.

What does this mean for all of us? Well, we are going to be very defensive about protecting our comfort zone. Venus at the end of the day loves comfort; just look at the two signs she rules, Taurus and Libra. She wants peace and harmony and right now she is in the sign of Aries so she is willing to pull out the sword to defend it. Pluto is the exact opposite of peace, so with it as her enemy, she is on high alert. What these series of squares tells me is that everyone is gonna be tense and feeling like everyone is out to get them in some way. There is also going to be this feeling that there is no way out, like the light at the end of the tunnel is too far away.

My best suggestion is to remember that this is just one transit, and like all the others, it comes and goes. It's very likely that something not so great is going to happen during this Mars, Pluto, Saturn, Jupiter conjunction madness and it's going to throw off your sense of balance and tranquility, but things aren't going to be doom and gloom forever, so just hang in there.

I know this was a pretty rough month and if I'm being honest, this entire year is gonna be a little rough. But it's all survivable and when we do get to the other side of it, things are going to be much better than they were before. Saturn and Pluto (the real aggressors of this time frame) are really rough planets, but they aren't just rough for the sake of it. They are changing things because they NEED to change. This is really the year of, what doesn't kill you makes you stronger. Think about all of the fuck shit that has been going on that we all agree needs to be different. Those changes aren't going to come without some casualties, no important change ever does. So while I know it may be hard, try and keep your head up.

If you want more specifics on how these transits are going to affect you personally. Look at what houses they fall in your natal chart or you can purchase an Advanced Chart reading where I will go into all the details with you!
